Ghost town

It wasn't until all my RSS feeds mysteriously vanished on here that I really noticed the lack of activity.

Where did everyone go? Is everything so boring that you have nothing to say? Is everything so hectic you don't have time to talk about it? Are you all hiding out on some other site and not telling me?

I know I don't post as much. Anything short goes on twitter, anything baby related goes on the baby site which doesn't leave much else since it's pretty much BABY BABY BABY 24/7 over here. I think I will start cross-posting my book reviews though.

I guess I need to set up all my feeds on some sort of reader now.

I blame Twitter and Facebook.

I'm guilty of being twitter-happy, but I don't use Facebook that much except as a way of sending out party invites.

Ditto. I also have this thing where I feel like I might as well start posting any longer thoughts to a public-facing blog with my real name on it (I have one, it's much neglected) if I'm going to do this sort of thing at all.

I enjoy the stuff people are still posting however, and I meant to give you a HIGH FIVE FUCKIN' A ALL RIGHT YES!!!1 on your post about the Today show and midwifery.

One word: Facebook. People don't seem to have the attention span to read more than a sentence about any particular friend.

I find it hard to pick out the lone sentences amidst all the quizzes and farmtown crap.

Yeah, I admit that my friends list suddenly seems a lot shorter without RSS feeds. (Any idea what happened to them?)

It's listed in "known issues" and under investigation, but apparently they haven't figured out the problem yet.

I strongly recommend google reader. It keeps my several hundred feeds in good order, and I can move from home laptop to work laptop to work desktop to random other place and it keeps up with what's read and what's not.

We need a way of enticing people to come back. I have no idea what that would be.

re: Facebook game/quiz spam, they make it pretty easy to block chatter from those apps on your wall/feed/whateveryoucallit.

I'm still here, but I've curbed most of my angsty/etc. posts since I've discovered my mom reads my LJ. Though I guess I could lock it, I know that almost anything you put on the internet can bite you in the ass.
On the ass? Can bite you preposition the ass.
