Please advise

Okay, my right foot is still retaining enough water that it is a few millimeters thicker than the left foot. This means I still can't get into 95% of my shoes. Any home remedies (or OTC meds) to drop this last smidge of water weight? It's driving me batty though at least the weather is such that I don't mind wearing sandals or the *sigh* crocs all the time.

I'm already taking dandelion capsules and drinking lemon water though I don't know that either really does anything.

I need TV recommendations. I have a lot of time to fill between now and March 2010. I prefer shows that run in a half-hour format because that covers one feeding/pumping session (and doesn't take up as much storage space), but I'll also take recommendations for hour-long shows to watch during the day.

Here is what I have recently watched (or re-watched):
• The Office
• 30 Rock
• How I Met Your Mother
• Venture Bros.
• The IT Crowd
• The Boondocks
• Twin Peaks
• Freaks and Geeks
• My So-Called Life

Obviously, I'm open to shows from over a decade ago. Nothing too thinky since I watch at least a couple of episodes in the middle of the night.

  • We got on the Buffy/Angel train and are to Angel season 4
  • Arrested Development made it into our 'bought it' column and is just darn funny
  • House is good, but might be too thinky
  • Blue's Clues would prep you for later, and the 1st 2 seasons are on Netflix Instant (I like Steve better than Joe, but I am less wierded out by Joe now that I have seen him in more than the 'I drank the Steeler offensive line under the table last night and I still had to make this darn kids show' episode)
  • Fraggle Rock

Blue's Clues is SO ANNOYING.

Oh man, I forgot we own Arrested Development. I will rewatch that after we move since all of our dvds are packed.

I don't know why I've always been hesitant to jump on the Whedon train, but maybe now is a good time to start since that would take awhile whereas we sometimes run through an entire series in a few days.

Do I need to watch House from the start for it to make sense? I have a couple of seasons from my mom, but I think it's 2 & 3.

No. The story arcs cover multiple episodes, but each "medical mystery" is self-contained, and very little story development was done in season one anyway.

I was gonna say, Buffy. Just be aware it doesn't get consistently Great until Season 3.

Angel I think is a markedly inferior show which doesn't even get interesting until its Season 3 (which is Buffy Season 6) though you totally don't have to go back and forth.

If you haven't seen any Whedon at all, do Firefly -> Serenity first. It's way more polished, and it'll only take about 18 hours.

I also loved Battlestar Galactica, The Wire... oh and IN TREATMENT!!!! Amazing. Half hour but uh super thinky. Season 2 not out on DVD yet but I can make you a copy of torrented stuffs.

Undeclared
Weeds, only seen 2 seasons but seems amusing

If you decide to do the Buffy, I'd watch it in tandem with Angel. We just finished Buffy and are on the 2nd season of Angel, which is confusing. I'm with the person that suggested Firefly/Serenity for your first dose of Whedon. I'd much rather be in outerspace than in high school.

Big Bang Theory.

And, if you're in for an hour:
Chuck
Pushing Daisies

I second Pushing Daisies! Also, you might like Leverage. (I'll admit that I have no idea if these are hour or half-hour shows) I've heard that Deadwood is really good, and that's next on my To Watch list.

a) Go to a health product store and buy their "lose ten pounds in two days" bottle o' juice? I'm pretty sure all it does is dehydrate you.

b) We just finished watching ALL of Scrubs. It took a few months.

If you like British comedy, I would recommend:
- Jeeves & Wooster
- Black Adder
- Absolutely Fabulous
- The Vicar of Dibley
- French & Saunders

Good call. I need to watch the rest of Black Adder since I have only seen season 2.

Snuffbox
The Mighty Boosh
Newsradio
I hear Big Bang Theory is fun, but I've not watched it.

Stop with NewsRadio once Phil Hartman dies though. They tried, and it was okay, but it's still a disappointment.

Fortunately, four seasons of Newsradio is available on Hulu and they've thoughtfully ignored the fifth.

Yeah, rub it in. Hulu (like Netflix) isn't available in Canada (and apparently it's pretty smart at detecting proxies).

People keep bugging me about Mad Men and Deadwood. I'm sure they're right, but I'm lazy. Anyway tag you're it

Invader Zim. Its cute, mindless, and most episodes are 15 minutes.

Suggestions! Though some are repeats:
- The IT Crowd (BBC - ***** from Leah & Will)
- Pushing Daisies
- Black Books (BBC)
- Veronica Mars (Season One only)
- The Adventures of Pete & Pete
- Buffy (we haven't watched Angel yet)
- Wonderfalls

Animation
- Avatar: The Last Airbender
- Home Movies

Anime (I'm excluding anything that is better sub-titled)
- Azumanga Daioh

Also, Moonlighting is out on DVD - I haven't watched any yet, but I really want to for some reason.
